{"id":8133,"date":"2019-07-10T11:50:25","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T11:50:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ordinacijacvejanovic.smartweb.rs\/?page_id=8133"},"modified":"2019-07-10T11:50:25","modified_gmt":"2019-07-10T11:50:25","slug":"types-of-braces","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ordinacijacvejanovic.com\/en\/fixed-braces\/types-of-braces\/","title":{"rendered":"Types of braces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive size-full wp-image-5797 aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/protezadevojka.jpg\" alt=\"\"  \/><\/p>\n<h3>Types of braces<\/h3>\n<p class=\"plavi-pasus\">\nThe branch of dentistry dealing with straightening of misaligned teeth and jaws is called dentofacial orthopedics, and the basic means to achieve the correct teeth alignment is dental braces, or fixed orthodontic appliance. Aside from braces, which we will discuss here, there are two other treatment tools \u2013 mobile appliances (retainers), which are intended for younger children, and clear aligners, intended for grownups and all those who do now wish to wear fixed braces.\n<\/p>\n<p>Patients can choose from four basic types of braces, all of which carry out their primary goal of teeth realignment equally well. The differences concern their appearance, comfort levels, visibility and intervals between checkups.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style: none;padding: 0;margin: 0;\">Braces consist of three parts:<\/p>\n<li>&#8211; Brackets, which are glued onto teeth. In case a bracket falls off, patient should visit our clinic straight away to replace it;<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Archwire, along which the teeth move so that they become aligned with the arch of the wire<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Ligatures, which bind the archwire and the brackets. There are also self-ligating braces which do not require ligatures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>BRACES WITH METAL BRACKETS<\/h3>\n<p>About three out of four patients opt for metal bracket braces, which is why this is the first type that comes to our mind when we talk about braces. Metal brackets do not do much towards hiding the fact that a person is wearing braces \u2013 on the contrary, in the course of a 12 months treatment, a patient may choose a different colour of brackets during any monthly checkup. These braces are by far the most affordable and are an excellent choice for children, since they will like colourful brackets, as well as for older people, who love their braces and don\u2019t shy away from showing it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/sarenebravice.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive size-full wp-image-5797\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/sarenebravice.jpg\" alt=\"fasete pinceta\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>BRACES WITH SAPPHIRE BRACKETS<\/h3>\n<p>As far as its mode of operation is concerned, this type of braces does not differ from metal bracket ones, the only difference being that the brackets are translucent, making them hardly noticeable. They can only be detected at a less than a meter distance, though it is still relatively hard to completely conceal wearing braces due to inevitable change in speech. Even when braces are not visible, people will by large notice a kind of a change in the owner of braces, without being able to put their finger on it. Sapphire braces are a bit more expensive than metal bracket braces, and are mostly chosen by patients older than 25.<\/p>\n<h3>SELF-LIGATING BRACES<\/h3>\n<p>Self-ligating brackets have a different mode of operation to standard brackets, because they do not use ligatures to fasten the archwire to the brackets, instead they use a particular kind of latch, which reduces friction and loss of force. In certain cases, self-ligating brackets may speed up treatment, and we may determine if a particular case is eligible for self-ligating braces as soon as after analyzing the cone beam CT and an examination at our clinic. Another advantage of self-ligating braces is that brushing becomes much easier, along with the fact that the number of checkups will be somewhat less. As with standard braces, self-ligating braces may come in metal or translucent brackets. The metal self-ligating braces are a bit pricier than translucent standard braces, whereas self-ligating braces with translucent brackets are the most expensive type of all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/razlika.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive size-full wp-image-5797\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/razlika.jpg\" alt=\"fasete pinceta\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>RETAINERS<\/h3>\n<p>Retainers are worn by children between seven and eleven years of age. They serve the same purpose as the braces, but their shape is more suitable for teeth which are growing. Children should wear retainers at least four hours a day, as well as during nighttime, taking them off during meal. Also, children will love the fact that they do not need to take them to school. As in the case of braces, retainers are worn 12 months, unless a child has not been persistent in wearing them, in which case the treatment has to be repeated. Retainers are visible and impede speech to some extent, but children become increasingly articulate in no time.
