The procedure of making a crown begins with scanning, which is completely non-invasive and takes only a few seconds, and the future model of the tooth and crown is possible to see on the computer screen immediately. In case that we suspect that the scan was not complete or that the patient was moving, it is easy to repeat the process, while with the traditional method repeated taking of tooth print represents a remarkable effort and is physically very uncomfortable for both doctors and patients.
Furthermore, using software that is part of the CEREC system, milling machine makes the crown of ceramic cube in front of the eyes of a patient for a few minutes, despite earlier procedure when model was sent to the laboratory for making crowns (waiting several days) or crowns were made in dental office (waiting a day or two), whereby the patient often had only minor parts of the teeth in the jaw that are designed to wear the crowns while waiting, which is psychologically the most uncomfortable part of the treatment, whereas installing an implant patient could receive temporary crowns, but it constituted an additional cost.

The only restriction CEREC technology is an occasional need to paint a crown in a different color than the original ceramic cube, but this is a process that lasts only one day, and is required only in the most demanding aesthetic surgeries and for teeth in the front zone. Also, it is not possible in any case to create a crown for implant in the CEREC machine, although this technique significantly accelerates making of crowns for complete implanting work, because it reduces to a minimum the number of crowns that have to be done manually.
